My Second to None Military Service as a KATUSA Soldier


KATUSA

KATUSA (an acronym for Korean Augmentation To the United States Army) is a branch in the Republic of Korea Army. The KATUSA program established back in July, 1950 during the midst of the Korean War as a verbal agreement between the Korean President Lee and U.S. General MacArthur. Since the Korean War, the program has been integrating qualified enlisted personnels of the Republic of Korea Army to the 8th US Army and its subordinate echelons.


Camp Hovey

I began my service for my country and the ROK US Alliance on 25 June 2012. After graduating the basic training and AIT (Advanced Individual Training), I was assigned to HHC, 1ABCT, 2ID, EUSA (Headquarters and headquarters compnay, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, 8th US Army) at Camp Hovey, South Korea. I continued to served in the unit until my ETS(Expiration of Term of Service) in March, 2014.
